Explore some common qUESTIONS & Answers About Therapy

Taking insurance is a complex decision for each therapist. By signing contracts with insurance I am agreeing to their terms, which often do not serve the best interests of my clients or myself.  As I want to provide you with personalized care, protect your privacy, and avoid conflicts with insurance companies’ requirements for treatment that are designed for their own interests, I am not in-network for any insurance plans.

I do provide Superbills that you can submit for potential reimbursement from your insurance company, if out of network benefits are part of your plan. You would first need to confirm with your insurance company whether you have out of network benefits and what that includes.

Telehealth therapy has been around for many years, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, but became more popular since 2020. Telehealth therapy offers the ability to see a wider range of providers, since you are no longer limited by your location. It means that transportation and weather are rarely a barrier to having your session. It allows for more flexibility in scheduling since time traveling to/from session may not be needed. It allows the option of having sessions from the comfort of your home, or space of choice.

The biggest limitations for telehealth are the possibility of technical issues disrupting your session, some clients may not have an ideal place to have confidential sessions outside of a therapy office, and some clients simply prefer in person treatment. Occasionally there are concerns that are better served in-person. I am happy to discuss that with you if needed.

A:

What are the benefits and risks of telehealth (or virtual) therapy?

Q:

Before we begin working together, we’ll schedule a FREE 15-minute consultation to ensure we’re a good fit!

Then, your first full session, also called an intake appointment, is priced at $140.00 and may be slightly longer than a typical appointment, so we can set a solid foundation for the therapeutic relationship.

All future appointments are 50 minutes in length and priced at $130.00.
I do offer a limited number of reduced fee spots.

What are your prices?

Do you have a question that’s not listed here or would like more clarification regarding the Q&A above?

I’m here to help!

I require a 24 hour cancellation in the event you can not attend your scheduled session for whatever reason. Any cancellation after 24 hours will be considered a late cancellation and result in a fee of $75.00 dollars.

If we are able to find a time within the same calendar week that works for both of us to reschedule, the fee is waived. In the event that you no-show without a call or email, or are unable to reschedule as outlined above, there will be a fee of $75.00 charged.

A:

What is your cancellation policy?

Q:

This depends on so many different factors that are unique and individual to each client.

My goal is to always meet you where you are in life, rather than setting an arbitrary number of sessions, without knowing whether we’ll need more or less time to work together. We will continually evaluate your goals for therapy and your progress to ensure you are getting what you need from our work together.

A:

How long will I need to work with you?

Q:

I provide psychoeducational consults for recipient parents of donated gametes (donated sperm, egg, or embryos). I do not provide psychological evaluations for potential egg or sperm donors, or for surrogacy. I can provide a list of providers who do the evaluations for potential donors or surrogates.

A:

Do you provide third party reproductive assessments?

Q:

Since I provide online therapy, I am only able to accept payment by debit card, credit card, or HSA (Health Savings Account) card.

A:

What forms of payment do you accept?

Q:

My practice is safe and affirming for people of all genders, sexualities, abilities, religions, and racial and ethnic identities. Social injustices and inequities harm our physical and mental health, so I strive to center my practice in the ethics of antiracism, climate justice, and reproductive justice for all.
